FACULTY POSITION IN BIOMATHEMATICS

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at San Diego State University
invites applications for an Assistant Professor position in the area of
biomathematics.
Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Mathematics or a closely
related field. Candidates must be available to begin in Fall 2006.
Preference may be given to candidates who would be able to augment or
interact with existing groups within the Department. The successful candidates
will have the opportunity to participate in the PhD program in Computational
Science offered jointly with the Claremont Graduate University, as well as
in our graduate and undergraduate programs in pure and applied mathematics.
Postdoctoral experience is desirable, but not required. Successful candidates
will be expected to conduct a high quality research program.
Candidates with expertise in bioinformatics, computational biology, nonlinear dynamics,
computational neuroscience, or similar fields are encouraged to apply.
Qualified applicants are invited to submit applications that include:
a letter of interest, a curriculum vita, a description of the research
program, a statement of teaching philosophy, and three letters of
recommendation sent directly to the search committee by the recommenders.
At least one of the letters should address teaching potential.
